• Elementary Band (Grades 4-5)

    The Elementary Band Program introduces students in Grades 4 and 5 to foundational instrumental music instruction. Through developmentally appropriate study on woodwind, brass, and percussion instruments, students build skills in tone production, note reading, rhythmic interpretation, and ensemble technique. Emphasis is placed on posture, embouchure, articulation, and instrument care, with additional opportunities for creative expression through composition and performance. This full-year program prepares students for continued success in middle school band and aligns with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Visual and Performing Arts.

    Elementary Band Curriculum


    Middle School Band (Grades 6-8)

    The Middle School Band Program offers a progressive, three-year sequence that supports students in developing strong foundational and intermediate instrumental skills. Beginning in Grade 6, students build essential techniques in sound production, rhythm, and expression, while deepening their understanding of music literacy, theory, and ensemble performance. In Grades 7 and 8, students expand their technical proficiency through advanced study of posture, breath control, articulation, rhythmic accuracy, and musical interpretation. All units emphasize critical listening, collaboration, and independent musicianship. This program aligns with the New Jersey Student Learning Standards for Visual and Performing Arts and prepares students for success in high school ensembles.

    Middle School Band Curriculum


    High School Band (Grades 9-12)

    The High School Band Program provides a sequential and comprehensive experience for student musicians in grades 9–12, offering multiple ensemble and academic opportunities. Students build foundational skills in tone production, rhythm, scales, sight reading, and ensemble performance, with progression toward advanced study in musical interpretation, key signatures, literature analysis, and independent musicianship. Honors-level ensembles require director recommendation and focus on high-level performance and interpretation of diverse repertoire. All courses support musical growth through daily rehearsal, public performance, and artistic exploration, and fulfill the Visual and Performing Arts requirement under the New Jersey Student Learning Standards.
