The Special Services department offers a range of services at the elementary and middle school level. Students who are three to five years old are currently placed at the Betty Maddalena Early Learning Center or its sister site, the Betty Maddalena Early Learning Center - Washington Elementary School. All preschool classrooms offer a full day program as well as participation in the district’s general education inclusion classes based upon student needs and Individualized Education Program mandates.
For students in Kindergarten through Grade 6, the Special Education programs include inclusion classes, Resource Pull-Out Replacement classes, Self-Contained classes for students with Learning and Language Disabilities, Intellectual Disabilities, Emotional Regulation Impairments and students with Autism. At the middle school level, grades 6 through 8, instruction within inclusion, Resource, Pull-Out Replacement classes, and Learning and Language Disabilities classes is provided in a departmentalized setting where students switch classes and receive instruction in each academic area based upon the Special Education program outlined by his or her Individualized Education Program (IEP).
