St. Cloud Black History Month Celebration Highlights Student Talent
WEST ORANGE, NJ - The St. Cloud Elementary School Black History Month Celebration, held Feb. 19, filled the gym with families, vendors, and talented students gathering to honor the diversity and history of their community.
The event was organized by the St. Cloud Black History Month Committee, the St. Cloud PTA, and the St.Cloud Diversity Council, and featured several student performances. Principal Eric Price welcomed the crowd filling the gym.
"Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Access is alive and well in West Orange," he began.
"St. Cloud had the first Diversity committee. The PTA has been making Black history announcements during the month. We have a lot to celebrate!"
Lenna Young and Willow Spencer-Miles entertained as emcees. Student Mikayla Lucas sang "Lift Every Voice and Sing," Jordan Rose Philis performed a liturgical dance, and Kensi Damille recited "Who Am I." The Orange Youth Band took to the stage to show off their growing skills, and the St. Cloud Acting Troupe, under the leadership of Natasha Gallop, excelled in their sketches.
