West Orange Schools Brighten Holiday for Community
WEST ORANGE, NJ -The West Orange School District helped to brighten the Thanksgiving holiday for community members with donations of food, pies, music, and more.
Kelly, Hazel, and Gregory Elementary schools and Edison, Liberty, and Roosevelt Middle Schools donated food and pies to the Holy Trinity West Orange Food Pantry through drives organized by their student councils. The pantry was able to donate 50 turkeys to Washington School for needy families, 50 turkeys to St. James Food pantry in Newark, and 20 turkeys to the Orange Seniors Association.
By Tuesday afternoon, over 900 turkeys and 500 side bags had been distributed, along with pies.
On Thursday, the West Orange High School Chamber Orchestra and the Pereira sisters performed at the West Orange Chamber of Commerce Luncheon.
"We are thankful to our West Orange school family for their generosity, along with the compassion of our wonderful Township community as well," said Superintendent Hayden Moore.
