Follow the “Clue” to West Orange High School Nov. 15-16

WEST ORANGE, NJ – A lively, farcical production of “Clue,” the West Orange High School fall play, will have audiences chuckling, chortling, and thoroughly entertained by a top-notch cast and crew.

Set in 1954 during the height of the Cold War and McCarthyism, the murder-mystery comedy introduces us to Scarlet, Plum, White, Green, Peacock and Mustard, six guests invited to a peculiar dinner party with murder and blackmail on the menu. The surprise murder of their host sets up a chain reaction featuring more dead bodies and even more suspects.

The witty script was adapted from the 1985 film by playwright Sandy Rustin, who visited West Orange High School to meet with the cast and crew, offering insights into the characters and settings.

The result is a fast-paced production that embodies several comedic components: slapstick, dark comedy, and farce that are perfectly executed by the actors.

The sets, the sound, and the lighting design enhance the foreboding atmosphere that plays off the humorous onstage shenanigans, immersing the theatergoers.

It should be noted that guests will find it hard to believe that this is a high school production. The professionalism and talent of the cast and crew is a testament to the West Orange School District’s commitment to the Arts, and how it enhances the lives of students and the community. Special thanks to Theater teacher Wendy Mapes, teacher Bard Goodrich, and District Media Coordinator Lauren Grof-Tisza.
