The stage is set for a classic Essex County rivalry as West Orange takes on Livingston in the girls' soccer tournament final this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Livingston High School. It’s the fourth consecutive final appearance for the Mountaineers, a powerhouse squad with three tournament titles under their belt (2018, 2021, and 2022) and a co-championship back in 1991.

This year, West Orange will be without standout senior and Albany commit Lauren Villasin, currently representing the Filipino women’s national team. In her absence, the team has stepped up in all areas—Paige Topping and Amina Diop have led the charge on both ends, while Josephine Foglia and Juliana Candido add relentless pressure and disruption to opposing defenses.

West Orange’s strength on set pieces has been a game-changer all season, with a semifinal game-winning corner kick. Anchoring the defense is senior goalie Hannah Amoyaw, who has been dominant with 96 saves in 14 games and a career total surpassing 300 saves.

Back in September, West Orange and Livingston faced off in a hard-fought match that ended in a 1-1 draw, with West Orange holding the home advantage. Both teams showcased their defensive strengths and offensive resilience, leading to an intense back-and-forth on the field.

Saturday’s final promises to be a thrilling contest, with West Orange aiming to add yet another title to their legacy.

Tickets for Saturday’s game will be $5 for fans and parents, and $3 for senior citizens and students.
