Nikhil Badlani Foundation Youth Advisory Board Awarded Grand Prize in "U Got Brains" Competition
WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Nikhil Badlani Youth Advisory Board was named Grand Prize Winner in the "You Got Brains" competition, held May 23 at Six Flags Great Adventure.
The students traveled to Great Adventure with their advisor, Eugene Pinkney, to attend the New Jersey Brain Injury Alliance's "U Got Brains" Champion Schools Program Showcase.
"The purpose of the program is to raise awareness of safe driving practices in schools and in the local community," said Pinkney.
"The students worked hard to raise awareness of safe driving and New Jersey's safe passing laws," he continued.
"They created social media campaigns that reached hundreds of students, educated the student body by collecting data and shared their knowledge on traffic safety awareness. Most notably, their hard work and dedication was instrumental in the passage of the “50 Hours Bill," requiring permit holders under 21 years to complete a minimum of 50 hours of supervised driving, and ten hours in darkness. In April, the students received a signed copy from Gov. Murphy," he explained.
"The Advisory Board's commitment to hard work was rewarded by being named a Grand Prize Winner, and they were awarded $10,000 for the fourth year in a row. Such an amazing achievement for this group," Pinkney concluded.
