West Orange Arts Council Honors AP Art Students at Reception

WEST ORANGE, NJ – The West Orange Arts Council honored AP Art students from West Orange High School at a reception held on March 18.

The West Orange Arts Council (WOAC), in partnership with the Visual and Performing Arts Program at West Orange High School (WOHS) presented the work of Advanced Placement Studio Art students Calixta Cempron, Aaron Latchman, Axel Mantilla Correa, Anna Shelley, Ezra Simon, Kayden Tilus, Catherine Topps, Christopher Valere and Rocky Zeppa.

The annual art show will run through the end of the month and features the works of talented AP art students. Many plan to pursue art and teaching, and several plan to go into business, technology, and the sciences but continue to create art. Students eloquently described their works, which bravely exposed their hopes, dreams, and fears in an ever-changing world.

Lisa Suss, a founding member of the Arts Council, began providing a space for WOHS artists to shine seven years ago. Chairperson Patricia Mitrano welcomed family, friends, and community members. WOAC hosts several exhibits throughout the year that promote the spirit of West Orange and issues of the day. For more information, visit their website HERE.
