West Orange Teen Golfer Places Sixth in Drive, Chip, and Putt Competition at Augusta National Golf Course

WEST ORANGE, NJ - West Orange High School sophomore golfer Samantha Galantini placed sixth in the Girls 14-15 year old division in the Drive, Pitch, and Putt Competition held on April 4 at Augusta National Golf Course.

The competition, canceled last year due to the pandemic, is held prior to the Master's to promote a love of golf amongst youth and bring together top players aged 7-15 from across the country.

After seven years of trying, Galantini got into the competition was glad to have the opportunity.

"Going into it, I was like, if I get first or last place, I don’t really care because I already won getting there and just doing the competition. I was trying my best in each category and I was just like, ‘whatever happens, happens,’” she told New Jersey 12 News.

“It just makes me feel amazing for the opportunity I had and that Drive, Chip and Putt provided this opportunity for kids like me to be able to get all the way to Augusta,” she concluded.
