Kelly Elementary Student Named Finalist in Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey Folder Contest
WEST ORANGE, NJ - Kelly Elementary School fourth-grade student Sophia Ventura has been named a finalist in the 2019-2020 Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey Folder Contest. Sophia was one of 32 finalists selected from a field of over 3,600 entries from 140 schools statewide.
The Partnership for a Drug-Free New Jersey (PDFNJ) "was created in 1992 as a substance abuse prevention alliance to localize, strengthen and deepen initiatives, drug-free assistance, and parent education conferences throughout the state. All PDFNJ programs are available free of charge to the residents of New Jersey," according to the website.
Over the years PDFNJ has provided a broad-based public service campaign to address substance abuse prevention. New Jersey residents can see those campaigns on trains, buses, billboards, radio, television, in print and online. The pro-Bono media campaign has received over 100 million dollars to spread the message of prevention to children, teens, and adults.
This year's Fourth Grade Folder theme was "Fun Things to do Instead of Drugs." Students created artwork to reflect the theme, including Ventura. The finalists' artwork will appear in a folder that will be sent out to all schools in New Jersey.
