All courses in the Science program at West Orange High School are laboratory courses which embody research, knowledge and laboratory application. Courses of study are designed to be:
Creative - using our power of inquiry.
Knowledge based on current scientific principles, laws and generalizations.
Practical applications involving the transfer of the learned knowledge to everyday life experiences.
All science courses are designed to include the New Jersey Science Core Content Standards.
The State of New Jersey requires that all students in grades 9, 10, 11 and 12 must satisfactorily complete three years of science. The Board of Education requires three years of science for graduation. The science department encourages all students to participate in the science program for four years. The current course sequence is in line with the NJ STEPS Proposed Graduation Requirements found on the state department’s web site.
