Meet the Nominees for Homecoming King and Queen
WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange High School Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned on Oct. 20 during halftime at the WOHS v. Montclair game.
High School administration selects three nominees for King and Queen and seniors vote by ballot. The results are kept top-secret until the announcement during halftime. This year’s group of nominees have unique interests and represent the Class of 2018 proudly.

Nominees for Homecoming Queen
Kefi Mtume
Kefi has been singing since she was five years old. She sang in the Edison and Liberty Middle School choirs and joined the Treble Choir when she was a freshman. She then became a member of the Honors Chamber Choir and currently sings in the Glee Club and Jubilee Choirs. She has performed in several high school musicals, most recently as one of Ariel’s sisters in “The Little Mermaid.”
As a Mountaineer Mentor Kefi participated in Relay for Life, Walk for Nikhil, and the Senior Citizen Prom.
She’s taking AP Bio, AP Lit and AP Stats this year and plans to pursue a STEM track in the medical field. She would like to become a pediatric surgeon and her dream college is Cornell.
Isabel Oden
Isabel is a Mountaineer Mentor and a member of Teen Pep. She plays varsity Softball as an outfielder and is taking Advanced Drama and AP Psych. She plans on participating in the upcoming Thespian Festival.
Isabel volunteers her time to several organizations and enjoys meeting new people. She wants to attend Rutgers-New Brunswick and major in Communications or Journalism.
Kaycie Elifani
Kaycie is captain of the varsity Cheerleading Team and also performs with the Sideline and Competition teams. She’s a member of the Spanish Club and Sports Medicine Club as well as the Science Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and National Honor Society. She has volunteered at Walk for Nikhil and Cycle for Survival.
Her courses this year include AP Spanish, AP Bio, AP Calculus, Medical Terminology and Yearbook. She wants to take Pre-Med at Rutgers-New Brunswick and is leaning towards becoming an Emergency Room doctor.
Nominees for Homecoming King
Dane Clark II
Dane is an actor and is already signed with a talent agency. He has appeared Off-Broadway in “The Trojan Women.” He also performs mixed martial arts and is a competitive skateboarder, traveling to New York City and Los Angeles for competitions.
He appeared in last year’s fall play “Almost, Maine,” takes AP Lit and his film (with fellow nominee Thomas Hughes) “Dalton v. Malcolm” won the People’s Choice award out of 30 other films in a recent high school competition.
He volunteers with Jack and Jill of America and wants to study theater at Julliard.
Thomas Hughes
Thomas currently plays football as a left guard and defensive tackle. He is president of the Screenwriter’s Society and is a Mountaineer Mentor. He is studying Acting Principles and is participating in Independent Study in Broadcasting along with AP Lit and AP Stats.
Thomas’ passion is filmmaking and he is looking at NYU, Pratt and Montclair State University.
Marc Younker
Marc is Student Body President, President of the Unity Club, a Mountaineer Mentor and a Junior Statesman of America. He attended Boy’s State and made it to the level of NJ Assemblyman. He is a Mountaineer Mentor, Vice-President of Escriptus and a member of RHO Kappa and the National Honor Society.
He plays centerback on the varsity Boys Soccer Team.
Marc wants to attend Rutgers, Brown or Northeastern University and is leaning towards Political Science, possibly on a law or politics track. He also enjoys Philosophy and Economics.
