Mrs. Sandra Marmolejos

Hello!

My name is Sandra Marmolejos, and I'm looking forward to another exciting year teaching at Roosevelt Middle School.  After starting out my education at Ithaca College with plans of becoming an occupational therapist, I realized early during a volunteer experience at a local school that my heart was in teaching.  I finished my bachelor's degree in special education at New Jersey City University and began my career teaching special education and English at Harrison High School.  During that period, I completed my graduate degree in English Writing at William Paterson University and began coursework in literacy education.  In 2015, I began teaching at Roosevelt Middle School and shortly after, received my certification as an Orton-Gillingham Literacy Intervention teacher and dyslexia therapist through Fairleigh Dickinson University's Center for Dyslexia Studies and earned my degree in Educational Leadership from Georgian Court University.  I also completed the Yale Writers' Workshop for children's and young adult literature and creative writing, and I love sharing the writing tips and strategies that I learned from that remarkable writing community with my students.

Currently, I teach reading and writing intervention at Roosevelt Middle school as an Orton-Gillingham teacher, am the Poetry Club advisor, and adjunct at local colleges. I'm passionate about all forms of teaching, and now I am honored to be teaching middle schoolers here at Roosevelt.

As a mother of four children, I know that no one understands children better than their first teachers:  their parents.  Because of that, I encourage you to reach out to me and maintain correspondence throughout the school year concerning your child's progress and goals.  A strong partnership between parents and teachers will better ensure students' success.
