Mrs. Sandra Marmolejos
My name is Sandra Marmolejos, and I am looking forward to another exciting year teaching English Language Arts! After obtaining my bachelor's degree in education at New Jersey City University, I completed my graduate degree in English Writing at William Paterson University. I am a mother to three (challenging) children that have taught me how to be patient, resourceful, and unconditionally loving and encouraging, all qualities that have made me develop as an educator.
For ten years, I taught ninth through twelfth graders at Harrison High School. I also teach English 101 at Hudson County Community College and SAT prep through their community education program. I am passionate about all forms of teaching, and now I am honored to be teaching 7th and 8th graders at Roosevelt Middle School.
I consistently share with all my students the innovative ideas and strategies I have learned for reading and writing. English Language Arts is an exhilarating subject that lends itself well to discovery, sharing and collaboration. One of my goals this year is to instill in my students a passion for those three things--discovery, sharing and collaboration-- while enabling them to develop clarity and originality of expression. We will participate in project-based learning, reader's and writer's workshops, and celebrations of students' successes.
Of course, as a mother, I know that no one understands a child better than his or her first teachers: his or her parents. Because of that, I encourage you to reach out to me and maintain correspondence throughout the school year concerning your child's progress and goals. A strong partenership between parents and teachers will better ensure students' success, and I am eager to work with all of you.
We are going to have a spectacular school year!
