Washington Students Skype with Author Aisha Saeed

WEST ORANGE, NJ – Fourth grade students at Washington Elementary School had the opportunity to Skype with best-selling author Aisha Saeed on Nov. 27 after reading her novel, “Amal Unbound.”


Amal lives in a Pakistani village and dreams of becoming a teacher. Through a series of unfortunate events, Amal must quit school and care for her younger siblings. To make matters worse, she winds up having to work for a corrupt family as a servant to pay off her family’s debt. Amal must learn to live in their world and work with others to effect change and return to her family.


Saeed is also the author of “Written in the Stars,” and as a Pakistani-American speaks English, Urdu, and Punjabi. In addition to her writing talents, Saeed is an attorney and teacher. She lives in Atlanta with her husband and sons.
