Mrs. Kim Szalkai

Welcome to the profile page of Kim Szalkai, teacher of Business at West Orange High School.

This is my 21st year teaching Business Education at West Orange High School! Teaching is what I was meant to do - I always tell my students that it is my calling, I can't imagine myself anywhere else other than in front of a classroom. In my past 21 years, I have taught keyboarding, Microsoft Word and Excel, Personal Finance, Freshman Seminar, Accounting 1 and College Accounting.

Currently, I teach a Digital Design and Multimedia Applications class using industry standard software such as Adobe InDesign and Adobe Illustrator. Also, I teach Concepts of Entrepreneurship and Business Organization and Management classes which are project-based classes with real-world scenarios.  I believe every student, regardless of whether they major in Business in college or go straight into the workforce, should be taking Business classes as they will help them in their future.

When I am not teaching, I am the mother of two children and live with my husband in West Caldwell. I enjoy reading, traveling across the U.S. and watching my children swim competitively and play lacrosse.

For my Concepts of Entrepreneurship and Business Organization and Management courses, I have created google classrooms and current students have already logged and are accessing materials and classwork. In my class we use the Google Classroom.  If you would like to understand more about the Google Classroom, please watch this short video.  Only students and faculty within the West Orange school system have Google Apps for Education accounts, therefore you will not be able to directly access your child's Google Classroom.  However, please know that all of my assignments are available via that portal.
