Ms. Janine Sullivan

Welcome to my Teacher Page!

My name is Janine Sullivan and I'm excited to work with your child this year. After practicing law for seven years in New York, I took time off to raise my two amazing children. My daughter is a graduate of American University's School of International Service and is now a paralegal at the Department of Justice.  She also coaches the AU mock trial team.  My son is a junior at UCLA, studying French and film.  My kids are both actors and singers, and we all love the theater.  I can't sing, but I play and have taught piano.  At the age of 40, I decided to follow my dream of becoming a teacher and went back to school to earn my teaching certificate.  This is my twelveth year at West Orange High School, where I teach first-year students in both honors and college prep ELA and juniors in The Collegiate Institute, our school's Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) program.  I am also one of the coaches of our mock trial team.

In my class, we use Google Classroom.  Only students and faculty within the West Orange school system have Google Apps for Education accounts. Therefore, you will not be able to directly access your child's Google Classroom unless your child invites you to join our Classroom.  All of my assignments are available via that portal.  An online calendar houses all assignment posts and students are reminded online about their classwork and upcoming homework that is due.  Most handouts or reference materials I use in class are available to your students 24/7 there.

At this point in your child's education, greater autonomy and personal responsibility are important.  Please encourage your child to email me directly if they have a question, concern, or if they are absent.  Of course, if you ever need to contact me, please do!   My email is <>.
