West Orange Schools 2020 Essex County PRIDE in Education Essay Contest Winners Announced

WEST ORANGE, NJ - The annual Essex County Education Association (ECEA) PRIDE in Education Essay contest winners from West Orange Schools have been announced. Thousands of students in grades 1-8 from participating Essex County schools submitted entries.

 

The West Orange winners are:

 

First Grade - 1st Place

Student: Logan Granados  -  Washington Elementary   
Teacher: Jeannie Kivlon

 

Second Grade - 1st Place

Student: Ashleen Callahan  - Mt. Pleasant Elementary 
Teacher: Ms. DeBlieck

 

Third Grade - 3rd Place

Student: Federico Grebe  - Hazel Elementary
Teacher: Stacie Varanelli

 

Fourth Grade - 3rd Place 

 

Student: Phoebe Horne  - Gregory Elementary
Teacher: Mrs. Belott

 

Fifth Grade - 3rd Place 

 

Student: Grier Norris  - Gregory Elementary
Teacher: Mrs. Bonagura

 

7th Grade - 2nd Place 

 

Student: Malcolm Adedjorma  - Liberty Middle School
Teacher: Ms. DeMeo

 

Eighth Grade - 2nd Place 

 

Student: Reign Bracey - Liberty Middle School
Teacher: Mr. Bridge 

 

 

First-place winners will receive $75, second place winners will receive $50, and third place winners will receive $25.

 

Students will read their winning entries at the Essex County Education Association (ECEA) PRIDE in Education Essay Award Ceremony at the Livingston Mall on March 5.

 

"Congratulations to our winners and thank you to everyone that participated in the 2020 essay contest," said WOEA PRIDE chair Sharon Ortiz.
