WEST ORANGE, NJ - Despite an early dismissal due to the sweltering heat, the West Orange public schools opened on Sept. 6 as thousands of students returned after a long summer vacation. Classrooms and hallways were decorated, floors were shining, and excitement was in the air as faculty and staff welcomed students in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and grades 1-12.

Newly-appointed Superintendent of Schools Hayden Moore happily set about traveling around the district, stopping by to say hi and taking photos with staff. Here are some of the Back to School moments captured yesterday.
