Diverse Career Program at Hazel Avenue Elementary Inspires Students to Pursue Their Passions
WEST ORANGE, NJ - During the month of March, Hazel Elementary students in Grades 3-5 had a unique opportunity to learn about different types of careers, thanks to an innovative program developed by Guidance Counselor Delisa Jackson.
Jackson conducted class sessions about careers and students created their own resumes, recording what they'd like to be when they grow up as a keepsake.
From March 28-31, staff and students celebrated careers with a special Spirit Week, with staff wearing their college shirts and students donning Hazel tees to underscore the importance of education. Wednesday was “dress up for a job interview” day, Thursday was Pajama Day, to “chase your dreams, and dream big,” and Friday was “dress up as the career you want to have.” 20 presenters also shared their careers on March 31.
