Welcome to Mrs. Stecklow's Page!
My name is Mrs. Laurie Stecklow and I am so proud to be a Reading Intervention Teacher at St. Cloud Elementary School. Literacy has always been my passion. I am excited to be able to teach your children many strategies that can help them be successful readers. My goal is to have all students feel confident so they not only learn to read, but they enjoy reading for years to come.
I have been teaching in the West Orange School District since 1996, as a first grade, third grade, and reading specialist at Gregory Elementary, then at St. Cloud. I graduated from University Of Maryland with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Education, and received my Masters in Reading from Fordham University.
I believe teachers, parents and students should work together as a team to achieve success. The best way to improve reading is to have your child read every day. This will build vocabulary, comprehension, fluency and most important confidence.
"There are many little ways to enlarge your child’s world. Love of books is the best of all."
–Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis
