St. Cloud Elementary School Teaches Art Techniques and Kindness
WEST ORANGE, NJ – St. Cloud Elementary School art teacher Lori Howe has spent the past few weeks teaching her second-grade students the art of Quilling, and also made some time to teach a big lesson in kindness and compassion.
Last week, Howe instructed her second-grade students in the art of Quilling. Quilling is the art of curling paper into various designs, forms, and shapes and gluing them onto a flat background to create relief sculptures, producing a 3D effect. Students practiced their designs last week and worked on their final designs the week of Feb. 5.
Howe also made time to work with students in grades 1-5 to design and create Valentine’s Day cards for local veterans, helping to instill in them a sense of kindness and compassion.
“The cards are being picked up from St. Cloud this week and delivered to VA hospitals in East Orange and Linden,” noted Howe.
