West Orange PAL Announces Start of Inaugural Girls Flag Football Season

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Following the enthusiastic premiere of Girls Flag Football at the high school level, the New Jersey Suburban Youth Football League (NJSYFL) has announced the start of Girls Flag Football at the junior level.  West Orange PAL will be part of the inaugural season and will host two games, including the opener on April 13 at Suriano Stadium at West Orange High School and the May 11 game.
West Orange PAL is one of the first youth league programs to offer the opportunity, along with Bloomfield, Berkeley Heights, and Summit/New Providence. Perth Amboy and Montclair hope to join next year. As the girls flag football program continues to grow in popularity, talks are underway to make it an official high school sport in New Jersey and, ultimately, an Olympic sport.
There is a 12U division (girls in grades 4-6) and 14U (girls in grades 7-8). The West Orange PAL teams will play at 6pm, 7pm and 8pm. WOPAL is the feeder program to West Orange High School, and Coach Andrew Mazurek (WOHS football assistant coach and Girls Flag head coach) is also a WO PAL board member who has been instrumental in helping to develop this program. West Orange sports history is in the making.
Opening day is Saturday, April 13 at WOHS. May 11th will also be at WOHS.
Saturday, April 20 and May 4 will be at New Providence High School.
Saturday, April 27 will be at Foley Field in Bloomfield.
Saturday, May 18 will be at Gov. Livingston High School, Berkeley Heights.
The playoffs are Saturday, June 1 at Foley Field in Bloomfield.
