Roosevelt Middle School Students Start Season of Giving with Donations to Mayor's Sunshine Fund

WEST ORANGE, NJ - Students and families in Roosevelt Middle School started off the Seaon of Giving with donations for the Mayor's Sunshine Fund.

Seventh grade ELA teacher Jay Wecht  worked with his students to provide non-perishable items that will go into approximately 150 Thanksgiving baskets that will be distributed to West Orange families. Remaining items left over from the baskets will be donated to the Holy Trinity-West Orange Food Pantry, who also distributes Thanksgiving turkeys and sides to its members.

Mayor Rob Parisi stopped by to visit students and thank them for their generosity and enthusiasm.

"Once again, the students at Roosevelt Middle School did an exceptional job collecting food for West Orange residents in need," said Wecht.

Between the two grades, almost 300 cans and boxes were collected, with over 100 of them from Mr. Wecht’s advisory alone.
