West Orange Girls Soccer in NJSIAA Quarterfinal Shutout v. Bergen Tech
WEST ORANGE, NJ - West Orange Girls Soccer has advanced to the Semifinal Round of the NJSIAA North 1, Group 4 state sectionals following a 5-0 shutout over Bergen Tech on Nov. 2.
"Bergen Tech is a tough team to beat, but the girls played a great game," began West Orange Head Coach Sean DeVore.
West Orange burst out of the gate with two goals in the first fifteen minutes of play. Natalie Nevins was in top form, scoring two goals and three assists for the Mountaineers. Kiley Capstraw had one goal and one assist while Mya Bembry and Kaitlyn Charles added a goal apiece to the shutout score.
"Defensively, the team played well, led by Morgan Clark and Nyah Harper," DeVore continued, "and Cassidy Joyce had four saves."
"The girls really worked hard to high press and keep the ball in the attacking third. Kiley Capstraw's long throw was once again difficult for the opponents to defend against as well as our set pieces," DeVore explained.
Top-seed West Orange will play fifth-seed Ridgewood in the semifinal game on Nov. 6 in a home game beginning at 2:00 pm.
