Meet the Nominees for West Orange High School Homecoming King and Queen
WEST ORANGE, NJ - The West Orange High School Homecoming King and Queen will be crowned on Oct. 29 at the special Senior Night Pep Rally and Homecoming beginning at 6:30 pm.
The event is open to Class of 2021 seniors and their families.
High School administration selects three nominees for King and Queen and seniors vote by ballot. The results are kept top-secret until the announcement during Senior Night. This year’s group of nominees have unique interests and represent the Class of 2021 proudly.
Nominees for Homecoming Queen
Faith Nzegwu
Faith is a member of the Track and Field team, the African American Heritage Club, and Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America Club. She received silver and gold medals during an FCCLA competition. She is a member of the Fencing Team and Color Guard.
Faith plans to major in Business.
Nooha Kawsar
Nooha is the Vice-President of the English Honors Society, Secretary of the Class of 2021 Council, Secretary of the Science Honor Society, a member of FCCLA (Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America), and a Mountaineer Mentor.
Gabriella Charles
Gabriella is a Varsity Cheerleader Captain, Mountaineer Mentor, and Teen Pep Advisor. She is a member of the Spanish Club, Italian Club, Rho Kappa (History) Honors Society, and Editor/PR of the 2021 Yearbook. She has also received recognition as an All-American Cheerleader.
Gabriella plans to major in Psychology and wants to help others.
Nominees for Homecoming King
Mason Murdock
Sheldon is the Drum Major for the WOHS Marching Mountaineers. He is a member of the Chess Club and the Tri-M Music Honor Society. He has also achieved the rank of Eagle Scout.
Kalleo Nascimento Mendes
Kalleo is a Varsity Soccer and Wrestler. He plans to focus on Engineering in college.
In addition to the Homecoming King and Queen, Matt Allen and Chloe Fried will be crowned as Honorary King and Queen.
"I'm proud of this year's Class of 2021 nominees," said WOHS Principal Hayden Moore.
"They represent what it means to be a Mountaineer in both word and deed. They have risen to the challenge of this difficult year and continue to excel in every way. We wish them all the best of success in their future endeavors," he concluded.
