WOHS 2017 Commencement

February 21, 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians of Graduating Seniors,

The commencement ceremony for the Class of 2017 will be held on Thursday, June 22, 2017. As you know, Codey Arena at South Mountain Recreation Complex is undergoing construction. Therefore, the commencement ceremony is now scheduled to take place at 6:00pm in Suriano Stadium at West Orange High School. In the event of inclement weather, the ceremony will be held in the Tarnoff Gymnasium, with live streaming in the high school auditorium.

Family members and/or guests can enter the stadium or gymnasium/auditorium at 4:30pm. Parking on school property and on the streets around the high school will be available for the ceremony. Carpooling is strongly encouraged.

On Wednesday, June 14, 2017, each graduate will receive a yearbook, cap and gown, and four tickets for the commencement ceremony. Two tickets will be blue and two tickets will be red. All four tickets can be used if the ceremony is held on Suriano Stadium. If the ceremony is conducted indoors, family members or guests with blue tickets will be admitted into the Tarnoff Gymnasium. Family members or guests with red tickets will be admitted into the high school auditorium for live streaming. Seating is limited whether graduation is held outdoors or indoors, therefore, tickets must be restricted to four per graduate. If handicapped accessible seating is required, please contact Ms. Colon at 973-669-5301 ext. 31537 prior to June 15, 2017.

A professional photographer will capture a candid photograph of each graduate accepting the diploma and a posed picture holding the diploma. In addition, a group photograph will also be taken of the Class of 2017 during the ceremony. This alleviates the need for audience members to leave their seats to take pictures.

Over the years, we have been very proud of our commencement ceremony and ask that all family members and guests be respectful audience members. We anticipate a memorable event and ask that you discuss proper decorum with your son or daughter.

Kindly remember that guests will not be admitted to the ceremony without a ticket and there is no admittance after the ceremony begins. Additional information will be shared in the coming months. If you have any questions, please contact Dr. Mancarella at or 973-669-5301 ext. 31513.

We look forward to another successful commencement ceremony by creating a memory that will last a lifetime.
