Redwood Elementary School Honor Band and Award-Winning West Orange High School Cheerleaders Recognized at March 20 Board of Education Meeting
WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Redwood Elementary School Honor Band and the West Orange High School Cheerleaders received special recognition at the March 20 Board of Education meeting.
The Redwood Honor Band is comprised of fifth grade students committed to excellence in music. They stay after school to work with band teacher Andrea Rommel. (Students in West Orange have the opportunity to take Band or Orchestra beginning in fourth grade, following a year of recorder training in the third grade.)
Principal Bruce Arcurio introduced the enthusiastic students, who performed "Galactic Episode" for the board and proud family members.
Following the Honor Band performance, the West Orange High School Cheerleaders were recognized with plaques by the board and athletic department.
The cheer team had another incredible season, winning the 2017 NJCDCA State Championship, the SEC Conference Championship, UCA Regional Championship, UCA Garden State Champions, and taking third and seventh place nationally at the NHSCC Competition in Orlando.
