My name is Diane Sinisi and I am a teacher for preschool disabled children at The Betty Maddalena Early Learning Center. I have been teaching young children for over 20 years.
My belief is that all children are capable of learning and each child has the need to explore and make sense of their world. It is my job as their teacher to support their growth by developing their learning environment by presenting materials/activities to help foster and create their own questions and interests.
In preschool, children need to have many opportunities to develop observation, questioning and listening skills. They also need to develop their ability for language expansion and expression. I know that not every child learns in the same way or at the same pace therefore it is my responsibility to be actively engaged with the students to co-construct experiences, to observe and to research their learning styles, and to be aware to provide a nurturing environment that challenges each child.
“I’ve learned that people will forget what you said
People will forget what you did
But people will never forget
How you made them feel."
