Middle School Service Club Students Deliver Toys to Elementary Schools
WEST ORANGE, NJ - The Junior Interact Club at Roosevelt and the Helping Hands Service Club of Liberty Middle School visited several elementary schools to distribute toys and bring holiday cheer. Students in both schools raised the funds to purchase the gifts to the younger students.
On Dec. 18, the Helping Hands Service Club of Liberty Middle School visited Washington Elementary School to entertain Kindergarten students with a sing-along of holiday songs including "Frosty the Snowman" and "Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer."
Vito Panteleo, Liberty's own Mr. Fix It, came dressed as Santa Claus. Kindergarten students rushed up to have a picture taken with him and ask for a special present. He and his Helping Hand Elves did not disappoint as every student received a gift: a doll for the girls and a super action figure for the boys.
On Dec. 21, the Junior Interact Club from Roosevelt Middle School visited three schools: Pleasantdale, Mt. Pleasant, and Redwood, to deliver 119 toys to students in the self-contained special needs classes.
"During the months of November and December students raised $1,000 to bring holiday cheer to our fellow students in West Orange," said Kim Cerruti, Jr. Interact advisor.
"It really was a wonderful morning," said Jane Horwitz, LMS Helping Hands advisor. "We can't wait to do it again next year!"
